On November 2, 2022, Darcy Sidoruk, an inmate from Pacific Institution, died while in custody.
At the time of death, he had been serving a life sentence for second-degree murder, beginning September 20, 1982.
In 1982, at the age of 18, Sidoruk pled guilty to the murders of Yvonne Germaine Doucette and James Barron Pitt, in Fort St James
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
