Death of an Inmate – Donald Musselman

24 year old Donald Musselman, and inmate serving time for second-degree murder and manslaughter, died in custody on October 15, 2024.

At the time of his death he was being housed in Joyceville Institution.

Musselman was convicted on May 21 2024 of the shooting death of hip-hop artist Markland Campbell in 2019 and would not be eligible to apply for parole for 12 years.

While awaiting trial, Musselman would assault another inmate, Sheek-Hussein, 27 who remained in a coma for 5 months before passing away from the injuries he sustained.

He was initially charged with second-degree murder, but would plead guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.

In a media statement issued by Correctional Services Canada, they stated all cases involving the death of an inmate will be reviewed and their policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
