Death of an Inmate – Jason Miles Hubler

Jason Miles Hubler, an inmate from Beaver Creek Institution, died in custody on February 17 2026.

He was 51 years old.

In 2009 Jason Hubler, along with his wife Tosha Hubler, lured 77 year old Ray Johnson to their home to purchase some tools they were selling.

Their plan was to steal the victims truck.

Six days after the murder the couple was arrested near Banff while driving Ray’s vehicle.

Both husband and wife would be convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life without parole until serving 25 years.

The couple would also be convicted of indignity to human remains for stuffing Rays body into a wooden trunk and dumping it in an industrial area.

Correctional Service of Canada did not release a cause of death and stated that their policy requires the police and coroner are notified in all cases involving the death of an inmate.
