UPDATE – Ajax man charged with second-degree murder

Homicide investigators have made an arrest for the stabbing that occurred in Ajax, early on Saturday, Oct. 15.

At approximately 2:00 a.m., Durham police responded to an altercation out front of King’s Castle Bar and Grill located on Westney Road South in Ajax. A 28 year old man was located with a stab wound and later died in hospital.

This was Durham Region’s 11th homicide of 2022.

Patrick Chard, age 33, of Ajax has been charged with second degree murder. Patrick was struck by a vehicle in the same parking lot after the stabbing took place.  He remains in hospital in stable condition.

The name of the victim is being withheld at the request of the family.

Police are looking for anyone with information to come forward, as well as anyone that was at the bar that night who may have video footage of the incident.
