Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit have laid First Degree Murder charges following a homicide investigation in the City of Vaughan.
York Regional Police was called to assist Vaughan Fire and Rescue Services for a structure fire in the area of Parktree Drive and Lucena Crescent on Friday, September 23, 2022, at approximately 7:45 p.m.
When police arrived on scene, they found an unresponsive female victim inside the residence. The victim was transported to hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
The victim was identified as Naheed ASKARYAR, 64, from the City of Vaughan. A post-mortem examination was conducted and the cause of death has been confirmed as stab wounds.
Mohammad ASKARYAR, was arrested for First Degree Murder, in the City of Vaughan on Friday September 23, 2022.
Anyone who has been contacted by investigators and have not yet given their witness statement are strongly urged to contact police to provide their statement to help further the investigation.
Police are also appealing to anyone with information to please come forward, including witnesses that have not yet spoken with police or anyone with video surveillance or dashcam footage in the area at the time.
