David Thomas was a 63 year old inmate serving a life sentence at Bath Institution.
He died on February 7, 2026. No cause of death was released by Correctional Service Canada
David Robert Thomas was found guilty in 2015 of the murder of his on-again off-again girlfriend Denise Bourdeau and handed a life sentence, with no possibility of parole until after serving 16 years.
On New Years Eve of 2006 Denise disappeared and was last seen leaving a bar in Waterloo, close to her apartment.

Her body was discovered 3 1/2 months later, floating in a flood plain of the Grand River.
Thomas was an abusive partner.
In 2005 he put Denise in the hospital after choking her unconsciousness and breaking her nose.
Thomas had also beaten Denise several times in the week before she disappeared.
When police searched his vehicle Bourdeau’s blood was found in the car, as well as evidence of a clean up
He would be finally be charged for killing Denise in 2011 but it would be another four years before he was brought to trial and convicted
