John David Bride, age 45, died while in custody at Millhaven Institution on May 29, 2024.
He pled guilty in 2003 for the murder of school teacher, Gurjinder (Gary) Singh in New Westminster British Columbia, and received an automatic life sentence.
Gary had returned home from a wedding reception and was ambushed by John Bride, and three co-accused, who would also be convicted of first-degree murder.
A media statement issued by Correctional Services Canada, states that all cases involving the death of an inmate are reviewed and the police and corner will be contacted.
