Paul Raymond Schipfel, who was incarcerated at Matsqui Institution in Abbotsford, died while in custody on December 21, 2023.
In 2017 he plead guilty to sexually assaulting a 16 year old girl and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
In a statement released by Correctional Services Canada, they say they are reviewing the circumstances surrounding Schipfel’s death and that his next of kin have been notified.
The cause of Schipfel’s death has not been released to the public.
