Robert Ratcliffe, an inmate from Millhaven Institution’s Regional Treatment Centre, died on February 8, 2024. He was 60 years old.
He was arrested in 2017 after chatting online with an undercover police officer who claimed to be a woman named Sara with two young children.
During these conversation he asked for nude pictures of the children and also sent images of child pornography.
He would be convicted in 2021 of several sexual offences and sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the coroner be notified.
