On May 3 1989, convicted murderer Allan Legere escaped custody and was on the run for seven month in the Miramichi region of New Brunswick, Canada.
During this time he would terrorize the community and commit four additional murders before being recaptured on November 24 1989.
His trial was the first time a Canadian court would use DNA to convict a suspect for the crime of murder.
