On October 1st, 2023, Roy William MacGregor, an inmate from Pacific Institution, died while in custody of apparent natural causes.
At the time of death, he had been serving an indeterminate sentence, which began on May 2, 1978.
On September 11, 1977 Macgregor and four other men were involved in the shooting death of Rejean George Chenard in Mississauga, Ontario.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
