Hamilton police are investigating a double homicide that occurred shortly before 6pm on Saturday, May 27, 2023.
When police responded to the call at 322 Jones Road in Stoney Creek, they found two deceased victims at the scene.
According to a statement issued by Hamilton police, a 27-year-old female and 28-year-old male were both tenants at the residence.
The 57-year-old landlord barricaded himself in the residence with firearms that were registered to him.
Hamilton police issued a shelter in place order after shots were fired from the home.

The area was contained by Hamilton Police Emergency Response Unit while they continued to negotiate with the suspect.
“At one point during the negotiations, the suspect fired at the Hamilton Police armoured vehicle. The suspect later fired additional rounds, which resulted in an interaction with police.”
Police say the Special Investigations Unit has been contact and has invoked their mandate and there is no longer a threat to public safety, but wouldn’t comment any further.
The SIU is mandated to investigate cases involving police resulting in serious injury, death, the discharge of a firearm.
In a press release police stated the families of both victims have been notified and at this time, the victims’ names will not be released.
