On November 21 1973, at around 11pm Jack Wayne Bender and his accomplice Dwight Douglas Lucas kidnapped Alan and Michael Hurd, and brutally attack the brothers with an axe in a field.
Micheal Hurd sadly didn’t survive. By some miracle his brother Allan survived the attack and was able to stagger from this field just 25 miles outside of Winnipeg and knock on a farmers door that was about 100 yards away.
He would later testify against Bender and Lucas at their second-degree murder trial where they would both be convicted.
