On May 8 1999, the body of Nadine Gurczenski was found in a ditch in the Victoria Avenue (Regional Road #24) and 8th Avenue area of Vineland.
She was partially clothed, and her body was discovered by two cyclists.
The cause of her death was not released, according to Niagara police, although a 1999 article in the Brantford Expositor states she died from a broken neck and other internal injuries.

It is believed Nadine had been beside the road for approximately one day before her body was discovered.
Nadine moved to Canada from Jamaica in 1992. She was last seen alive on May 6th around 11:30 pm when she left the bar where she worked.
Police released a composite sketch of the man last seen with Nadine on more than one occasion before her death.
He is described as 6 feet, in his late 20’s, with a medium built, short brown hair and clean shaven.
