WANTED: Canada wide warrant issued for Illia Ayo, in fatal shooting of Alexander Mills-Smith

On March 9, 2023, at 3:45 a.m., York Regional Police responded to calls for a shooting in the area of Dufferin Street and Summeridge Drive.

Officers arrived and found a male victim with gunshot wounds.

The victim, identified as Alexander Mills-Smith, 24, of Toronto, was transported to a trauma centre but was pronounced deceased a short time later.

While investigating, police became aware of two additional victims with gunshot wounds who were found by police in the City of Toronto.

A 21-year-old female with minor injuries was treated and released, but a male victim, age 20, remains in serious condition

A Canada-wide warrant for First-Degree Murder, and two counts of attempted murder has been issued for Illia Ayo, 20, of no fixed address. Ayo is known to have associations in London, Ontario, as well as Calgary, Alberta.

He is described as black, 6’1, 141 lbs with black hair and brown eyes, and is considered to be armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him should not interact with him, but call 9-1-1 as soon as possible.
