Bradi McCoy of Milton, severely injured in chemical attack.

On March 9, around 1:25 in the afternoon, Bradi McCoy, 22, was walking in the area of Syer Drive and Maxted Crescent of Milton, when she was approached by a woman on foot.

According to a news release from Halton police, the woman threw an unknown chemical onto the victim, which caused “severe burns to her face and body.”

The woman then stole the victim’s cellphone and fled the scene.

The victim was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries, and the suspect was identified as a family member.

A 57-year-old woman from Quebec has been charged with aggravated assault, administering a noxious substance and robbery.

Bradi, an aspiring teacher, remains in hospital on life support. Her injuries sustained are considered “life-altering.”

She was accepted to Wilfred Laurier University, and about to start teachers college this fall.

A GoFundMe page set up on behalf of the family is aiming to raise $200,000 to support her recovery and future expenses.
