Death of an inmate – Richard Beaudoin

On April 9, 2023, Richard Beaudoin, an inmate from the Federal Training Centre, died while in custody.

According to a statement from Correctional Service Canada, the cause of death was natural causes.

Richard Beaudoin, along with Robert Benoit and Claude Martineau were arrested in 1983 for the brutal murder of 77 year old Aline Primeau, the owner of a small grocery store.

At the time of his death, Beaudoin had been serving an indeterminate sentence for second degree murder, which began on April 27, 1984

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
